my goal is to inspire and assist others in building the skills to develop a strong and meaningful personal yoga practice.

I was introduced to yoga in 1995.  I practiced and taught many styles of yoga, mostly vinyasa based.  I taught at colleges, health clubs, yoga studios, and even worked for an LA based company traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii to train health club instructors.

In 2003 I stepped into my first Ashtanga yoga class.  I immediately felt the power of this style of yoga.  I sought out more instruction on this long-established system of yoga and found my teacher, David Garrigues (pictured above - photo from Yoga Anytime), who is one of the few teachers in the U.S. certified to teach Ashtanga yoga by the late world-renowned yoga master Sri K Pattabhi Jois.  I have maintained a committed Ashtanga yoga practice for over 20 years with David as my principle teacher.  Under his guidance I’ve learned the first three asana series and pranayama sequence of Ashtanga yoga and studied many texts including chanting the Yoga Sūtras of Patanjali. I’ve also traveled with David to assist him in teacher trainings and immersions over the years.

I’ve now been practicing and teaching yoga asana for over 30 years and have owned and directed a few yoga studios. During this time, I’ve had a beautiful family life with a wonderful husband and now two grown children. Through all of the changes in my life, one thing has remained the same; I practice yoga every day and I love to share yoga with others.

During the pandemic I felt a strong need to focus on studying breath, the contemplative aspects of yoga, and ways to approach slowing down asana practice. I sought out a pranayama teacher, Robert Moses, and Vedic chanting teacher, Shantala Sriramaiah. I learned a gentle pranayama practice and Hatha based asana format with Yoga Education College. I went to India to complete my training and am now a certified level 1 & 2 Pranayama and level 1 Hatha Yoga Sangraha teacher with Yoga Education College. I also have a beautiful Veda chanting practice with guidance by Shantala. Infusing these teachings with what I so deeply love about the Ashtanga practice has shaped the way I approach my personal practice and how I teach yoga today.

As a teacher, my goal is to inspire and assist others in building the skills to develop a meaningful personal yoga practice built on kindness and patience. I meet my student where they are and give them the roadmap to help them progress in a way that grows and changes just as their own life grows and changes.
