my goal is to inspire and assist others in building the skills to develop a strong and meaningful personal yoga practice.

I was introduced to yoga in 1995.  For the next eight years I practiced and taught many styles of yoga, mostly vinyasa based.  I taught at colleges, health clubs, yoga studios, and even worked for an LA based company traveling throughout the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii to train health club instructors.

In 2003 I stepped into my first Ashtanga yoga class.  I immediately felt the power of this style of yoga.  I sought out more instruction on this long-established system of yoga and found my teacher, David Garrigues (pictured above - photo from Yoga Anytime), who is one of the few teachers in the U.S. certified to teach Ashtanga yoga by the late world-renowned yoga master Sri K Pattabhi Jois.  I have maintained a committed Ashtanga yoga practice for over 20 years with David as my principle teacher.  During this time, I have learned the Primary, Intermediate, Advanced A series, Ashtanga Pranayama Sequence, and the Yoga Sūtras of Patanjali.

In 2007 I opened my first yoga studio in Spokane, Twist Yoga, which eventually evolved into Ashtanga Yoga School Spokane in 2014.  Unfortunately, the pandemic took its toll on AYSS and I officially closed the doors in February 2023.  I’m still teaching though and plan to continue to stoke the Ashtanga Yoga and Pranayama fire!  I work privately with yoga students in my home studio and teach a weekly Ashtanga Program.  I also teach workshops throughout the U.S. and Canada.  If you would like a workshop or immersion at your studio, I would love to create one for you and come to your town!

In addition to almost 30 years of yoga experience, I am a certified level 2 Pranayama teacher with the Yoga Education Collective, have a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, and have completed education as a massage practitioner.  I’ve taken teacher trainings with both David Garrigues and Tim Miller as well as countless continuing education courses. I have hosted weekend workshops at my studio with Manju Jois, Tim Miller, David Garrigues, and Petri Räisänen. I have also had the good fortune to meet and take instruction from Sri K Pattabhi Jois and his family while on a U.S. tour.

As a teacher, my goal is to inspire and assist others in building the skills to develop a strong and meaningful personal yoga practice.  I meet my student where they are and give them the roadmap to help them progress over a lifetime of yoga—yoga practiced in their unique body.
